ABC will bring back many hit shows this fall including Desperate Housewives, Dancing with the Stars and Grey's Anatomy. However, some old favorites, such as Lost and Ugly Betty, are gone, except for their past seasons available on DVD. The network introduces nine new comedies and dramas during September, or later in "mid-season". Saturday Night Football maintains its Saturday night timeslot.
Returning TV Shows on ABC
Sunday nights this fall brings a familiar line-up on ABC. Extreme Home Makeover is slotted for 8 pm, followed by Desperate Housewives at 9 pm, and then Brothers and Sisters. Monday night remains virtually untouched this fall as well with Dancing With the Stars at 8 pm and Castle at 10 pm. Other fan favorites returning to ABC include:
- Cougartown
- The Middle
- Modern Family
- Private Practice
- 20/20
Later in the season, ABC plans to bring back The Bachelor and V, a sci-fi drama based on a 1983 mini-series.
ABC Cancels or Ends Shows at the Start of 2010 Fall Season
As Lost fans are well aware, ABC has ended the popular drama that spanned six years. The cancellation of Ugly Betty was announced in the spring of 2010, just in time for the series to plan an ending show for its fans. Other shows that will not be in the line-up at ABC this fall:

- Eastwick
- FlashForward
- The Forgotten
- Hank
- Scrubs
New Shows for ABC This Fall and Midseason
While several new shows will begin on ABC beginning September 2010, several are slated for a later mid-season appearance.
- Better With You is a romantic comedy featuring three couples in one family at different life stages.
- Body of Proof, ABC's newest medical drama, features Dr. Morgan Hunt, a medical examiner trying to balance her personal and professional life.
- Detroit 1-8-7 follows homicide detectives as they solve the toughest murder cases in Detroit.
- Secret Millionaire is commonly described as a "feel good show". The documentary-type series follows millionaires who go undercover into impoverished and dangerous communities in the United States.
- Happy Endings, a new comedy, will not air until mid-season on ABC. The show is follows the ups and downs of 6 best friends (think Friends).
- Speaking of Friends, Mr. Sunshine brings Matthew Perry back to TV. Perry's character is a sports arena manger in San Diego going through a mid-life crisis. This show is being used as a mid-season replacement.
- My Generation uses flashbacks to contrast a group of Texas high school students with their lives 10 years later.
- ABC's newest sci-fi drama, No Ordinary Family, will air Tuesday Nights. The show follows a family who gains special abilities after a plane crash.
- Off the Map is a medical drama set in the jungles of South Africa. It will not air until mid-season.
- The Whole Truth is a legal drama that shows both sides of a case. Maura Tierney (ER) plays a lead role in the show.
